grades were below requirement
by: PnmWhat happens if you make it through pledging but your gpa is below the minimum requirement?

It depends on what your gpa is. If it’s over a 2.5 they probably may just put you on academic probation, especially a frat that doesn’t get a lot of people rushing it.
It also depends on the frat. Some frats have very high gpa requirements. I would definitely ask before pledging. Also some frats just have lower standards when it comes to academics.
Just make sure to ask the brothers about it

Lambda will make you pledge a second semester. If you still don't have the minimum gpa requirement they'll either kick you out or they'll give you a social bid. Most of the time if you're semi decent looking they'll just give you the social bid so they can keep their parties looking semi decent.
Otherwise, most fraternities will probably initiate you, but immediately put you on academic probation or suspension. It really just depends on the fraternity. I know Sig Nu, Phi Kappa Theta, and a couple others care a lot about grades so they might just drop you. But then again if you make it to the end of the process with a bad gpa I'm sure they liked you enough to look over the poor gpa.
