why are college girls so mean?

So in high school if I were to walk by a cute girl and smile at her, she'd smile back. But in college when I'm walking around campus, every time I try to make eye contact with a girl she always puts her head down and avoids eye contact as if she's embarrassed or scared or idk what. Why tf are girls not nice here?

Idk man something here has changed and I don’t think it has to deal with looks. A year ago I used to get eye contact like crazy and now all they do is duck their head. It’s weird tbh
