what is a plex?
by: 2019 FreshmanOk, this may be a stupid question but I often see the term 'PLEX' on here. What does this mean?

literally short for “ComPLEX”. KA moved out of theirs and DKE took over. Also, FIJI as one recognized by the school and nationals. A bunch of other frats use to own some after alpha drive was torn down but they got old and smelly. Most of everyone moved out and waited for Crowe’s “GLV” which was completely not what everyone planned for. Now most top house fraternities have huge complexes such as the pyramid and hotel.

plex is short for complex, as in (an entire) apartment complex. FIJI and DKE are the only 2 fraternities that have entire apartment complexes, although FIJI's has been zoned as a fraternity house since 2013. The term became popular around 2012, when 10 frats (~50% of all frats and nearly all the relevant ones) had "plexes." DKE, TKE, Kappa Sig, Sigma Chi, Sig Ep, FIJI, Theta Chi, AEPi, Alpha Sig, KA all had em. However, keeping a complex takes a lot of buy in from the organization and many fraternities moved out by 2016. Honestly, having a plex is a big asset, and more fraternities should push their organization to move into one.

Hahhaha huge complexes “ hotel” or pyramid, literally above average size homes. The plEX is 20 rooms, backyard the size of a football field.
