pros and cons of sororities/greek life
by: polly pnmI'm trying to decide if rushing and Greek life is for me, so can anyone tell me some pros and cons of being in a sorority and or Greek life? I like being friends with many types of people, and not limiting myself to the kinds of things I do. But I've been curious about sororities for a while. So, pros and cons?

You'll meet way way more people and have more access to more fun things. Yes you can still go to frat parties as a geed but you probably won't know anyone there, thus less fun.
The girls in your sorority will generally have a lot in common with you and you're a lot more likely to meet some of your best friends through it. A lot of relations / networking and people to be met that could get you jobs in the future.

Sadly you do give up some control. Like you can't really be photographed with off campus frat letters, you can't have any red cups or alcohol in your pictures, you have to dress up to your chapters standard when in letters and honestly they expect you to look nice every day (yes even ADPi and KD and PiPhi and every chapter I know of). Some have rules like heat applied to hair everyday, no wet hair outside, and no see-through clothing to class just to name a handful. You also have required meetings at least once a week plus recruitment training and required philos and other events.
It really depends on if you are comfortable with others controlling parts of your life or not.
