If you hate your sorority is it worth dropping? Especially if you're initiated and couldn't even rush again.. Does being a gdi suck that much

It's so dumb, everyone goes off in cliques and what do you do it for? To put a dumb name in your instagram bio? I'm over it

It doesn't really matter. Since your a girl you can still go to frat parties and be friends with those 5 people

Well why are you so scared? What do you think a sorority does for you? Does it define you? Do you need it to feel pretty? Do you need it to keep those friends? Letting go of your sorority doesn't change anything about you

Well, you have a conundrum. Choose wisely. Will you be dropping completely and never attend further sorority functions, or will you go on alum status and keep the sisterhood in your life shining until you die?

From what you have posted you will be dropping out forever.

That is closing a big window of future endeavors and friendship to you, but if you really believe a hasty decision made at your tender age won't someday be regretted by all means drop completely now. You might consider alum status if only to hold-on to the future for awhile longer, when you may change your mind and feel differently about your membership.

Sororities make it easier to go alum than drop completely, because when you drop completely they might never allow you back. Alum status is a holding pattern, so when you want to come back you have never completely dropped-out.

If you drop after a year you can apply to be in it again and they will likely let you back in

Most sororities, in a majority of situations, prefer an initiated member "go alum status" over dropping. Alum status doesn't have the terrible burden of "trying to rejoin" because you are still a sorority member when "going alum status".

There is NO NO NO automatic rejoining in a year or two if you completely drop out after initiating! Sororities have better things to do than 'let back in' someone who intentionally broke her initiated bond.

Jeez. As another person in greek you seem to be letting your house define you too much. Alumni can be nice but it's not necessary at all to have a good life. Maybe if you suck ass at networking you need it but if you know how to make friends on your own it won't matter at all. Have an identity outside of your greek letters. Other alumni you meet will be turned off by the extreme degree you're hyping your chapter. Remember alumni are not 18 year old girls. They don't make a huge deal out of the chapter.
