lambda chi to build first purpose built fraternity
by: Fraternity gossipRumor is Lambda Chi Alpha has closed on a huge lot right next to ASU. Understanding they plan to built a 100,000+ SF 150 capacity live in fraternity house with room to expand. This could be a game changer. Wonder if they are tapping into the Walton Bros owners of Wal-Mart and Lambda Chi alums recent 1Billion trust to expand and promote Lambda Chi?

They didn't go to ASU and they don't live in AZ so no. And 100,0000 SQ FT? LOL GTFOH that would be by far the biggest fraternity house in the nation. No idea if they are planning something, but the average frat house probably has suites consisting of 2 rooms with a jack and jill bathroom totalling like 500 square feet. You probably have ~25-30 of these units, a common room, kitchen, brotherhood room, etc that would total 3-5,000 sq ft. You need around 20,000 sq feet for an amazing frat house. And you'd have a 50-60 person live in capacity, which is enough for any fraternity's e-board + sophomore's to live in (usual fraternity house set up)

They may say that, but ASU is a public school and they can't tell an organization that they aren't allowed to purchase housing with their own money. FIJI has a house. I'd much rather have something like theirs than whatever crap ASU will come up with. Btw, they started tearing down frat houses FIFTEEN years ago, and have been promising new housing ever since. The last houses were torn down FIVE years ago. Still, nothing. Plently of universities have some fraternities who build houses on campus, and some who build them off, with no effect on that fraternity's standing. Example: U of A
