by: Sophomore girlSo I was just curious, I know that phi mu and ADPi have a lot of similarities and stuff, like they have the same mascot, is there a reason phi mu and adpi are so alike? Did one copy the other or something? I'm rushing in the fall and I just want to know what the difference is and if there even is a difference between them? Or which has a better reputation?

Phi mu was founded in 1852 and adpi was the first sorority ever founded in 1851. Both founders happened to be roommates and the story goes that the founder of adpi didn't think her roommate had the same values as her so she didn't ask her to join her secret society. Almost a whole year later, that roommate founded phi mu with different values but it is weird they have almost the same stuff so I can see why people say "copy cat". Yes they both have the same mascot which is the lion, but phi mu technically has a lady bug as another mascot which I think they use when Adpi is on the same campus. It is strange how they have the same mascot and their hand sign is almost the same, but this is all I know.

In phi mu we do have a lady bug as a mascot as well, some of my alumni sisters told me last year. Some phi mus do that in other schools out of respect for adpi since they are the first sorority that was founded and in being so did pick the lion mascot first.

Who cares. Phi Mu shouldn't even be compared to Adpi. They are by no means on the same level as ADPi. Phi Mu sucks.

Coming from a sorority that isn't either one, I don't see similarities at all with these two organizations on campus. Everyone knows ADPi was the first sorority founded and that being said, Phi mu being "similar" to adpi is sugar coating....they basically copied ADPi. Personally I favor the girls from ADPi cause too many Phi Mus try to start drama by putting others down from personal experience, my sorority may not be top tier according to Greek Rank but at least ADPis are nice to everyone and doesn't try to put others down. And whoever did start all of this crap on here, honestly I don't think was an ADPi, they're too classy for this.
