sorority dues
by: pnmwhy are some sororities so much more expensive than others? i noticed alpha phi is super high in dues

Different sororities dues cover different things, for example some sororities dues cover everything, this is usually the sororities with higher dues, others have to pay an additional charge if they want to attend formal, buy tshirts, attend events ect. It just depends on the organization. As for the alpha phi dues, a mistake was made when the pamphlets were printed, that is how much dues are per year, not per semester.

It has a lot to do with how much their national dues are, groups like Zeta and Alpha Phi have much higher national dues then groups such as DZ and Phi Mu. It doesn't effect much in the end though. Everyone has formals and socials and such. It's just how much you have to pay to wear the letters

The information the PNMs received on the brochure was not accurate for every organization. Generally, the lower sororities do not include everything, whereas the more expensive sororities will most likely cover more charges like formal tickets, t shirts, phc dues... etc.

ADPi, then Chi O, then Phi Mu are the least expensive, I believe. The amounts for those three only differ about $50. Keep in mind, though, that this means you'll be buying all t-shirts and other extra things out-of-pocket (which really adds up!). Also, your first semester as a pledge will be much more expensive than the rest as an initiate. I'm in one of those three ^ organizations and my dues last year as a new member added up to be around $1100, with new member fees, shirts, and stuff like that all added in.
