They can... But truthfully it's harder to get a bid into ANY sorority as a non freshman, not just those

What do they look for in an older member? I know they only pick a few non freshman but I'd like to be considered at least!

Not usually those are the more competitive chapters and they don't want upperclassman as pledges

SK does. The other ones are questionable. You would just need to make yourself stand out.

here is the truth if you want to make it as a junior (if you're a senior, its too late, dont waste the money on registration fee and join a different club on campus.) Talk to each sister you meet about how excited you are to hold leadership positions in the chapter and spend the next years of your college experience within a sisterhood that you can feel passionate about. They want to see that if you are older you can benefit the chapter. Every chapter needs motivated women to run for posititons, plan events, and help out all around. Show that you have this to offer. Also play up how you've been enjoying hanging out with the other girls in your rush group (this lets actives know that you can hang out with the freshman and feel comfortable.) On the plus side: if you get a "bottom chapter," which there is no such thing, you will have a MUCH better time because there are more opportunities for you to get involved quickly and they will likely have a larger upperclassman pledge class. Good luck and most of all be confident and approachable!

Yeah I agree - it's almost better to join a lower teir chapter who takes more upperclassman. It's a fun mix of girls!
