I didn't rush until my sophomore, so I've seen the sides of being Greek and being unaffiliated. I'm very glad that I did join a sorority because I'd say that it shaped me into a better version of myself, as cheesy as that sounds. It helped me improve my social skills by allowing me to gain 100+ sisters, but also make friends in other organizations and frats. It also allowed me to become more responsible, from gaining a leadership position to attending mandatory meetings and attending events. I feel like going Greek helped me become more disciplined.

Greek life is hard to explain to people who aren't apart of it because most people only see the negative stigma surrounding it. Being in Greek life does not make you above anyone else who is not in it, but the process of formal recruitment and the leadership positions and responsibilities given to you really do make you a better you. You're actually held accountable for something other than yourself. The only way you're going to be successful is if you go into rush with an open mind and focus on the how much you like the girls you're meeting, not the tiers or "social status".
