sororities on probation

I will be going thru recruitment this fall as a freshman. I see that 2 sororities are on some kind of probation. Will they still recruit new members? How are they affected by their probation status? Why would a PNM consider a sorority that's already in some kind of trouble?

I went to duck pond on Wed night and I will have to admit Alpha Gamma Delta & Sigma Kappa were by far the most friendly, seemed well rounded & not snobby at all, had a lot of cute girls & loved AGD shirts!
