rushing as a junior (sorority)?

by:

So I'm transferring to UH in the fall, and I'm wondering what the sorority rush process would be like as a junior. I know at schools notorious for their competitive Greek life (UT/TAMU/etc), it's near-impossible to even be considered as a junior. Is UH more laid back about that sort of thing or is it the same deal here too?

Recruitment at UH is pretty chill. The school's Greek life isn't as notoriously big compared to other schools, so it's not as competitive. I entered UH as a Freshman and rushed, but dropped because I knew I was transferring to SMU. A lot of the girls I met through recruitment were Sophomores and Juniors. Rushing Junior year isn't as uncommon now! We have upperclassman rush all the time at SMU. You should be fine! Best of luck!

I rushed junior year and I got in my second choice chapter. Depending on what your first two years looked like at your other school, you may have slimmer pickings and get cut from some of the more competitive houses right out of the gate, but you still definitely have a good chance of getting a house you like. Also, unless you’re completely socially inept or you don’t do the whole rush process, basically everyone who shows up to pref round gets a bid. You’ll be fine.
