spring recruitment
by: HeyI'm a junior and I wanted to rush for fall recruitment but wasn't able to. I just transferred to uh but I'm pretty social and feel like it would be a good experience to join a sorority to make more friends and get involved. I'm afraid that a sorority I want to rush won't rush the spring and if I wait for the fall again I'll already be a senior which I feel might be too old. How common is it for sororities to rush the spring? Are some not allowed to if they get too full or can they whenever they want? And for this semester what is the best way to get involved if Im not in one. Any advice would be helpful!

We only do spring recruitment if we have spots to fill. Since it's common for girls to drop in every sorority at UH it's not uncommon for a chapter to participate in spring recruitment, it just depends. For example last spring 3 out of the 7 chapters at UH did it. To answer your question: Just do it. Don't worry that the sorority you think you like won't have spring rush because you don't actually know which sorority is a good fit for you until you go through recruitment. To be honest spring will be your last chance. It's incredibly hard to get a bid as a senior because you only have a year left. At least in spring you have an extra semester. Not saying it's impossible of course! The best way to get to know the sororities before spring is to attent our philanthropy events and mingle! Think of it like a pre-spring recruitment. Follow our social medias and come out when we're selling food or philanthropy events and make friends! Not only will you see which houses to go to during spring, you'll make more friends in general :)
