Lame! Save your money, don't pay those ridiculous dues. Especially if it is coming out of your parents' pocket, that's just messed up in so many ways. In four years you could buy yourself a car or pay off student debt, go on an amazing vacation. Don't spend your money for validation. Aim to fund your success not for some party... where would that get you, nowhere good only trouble.

As someone who's from a commuter school in North Texas, U of H greek life is laughable, they are very small and all the Fraternities suck, the school also actively works against them, the sororities are aight, although the ZTA chapter is not like other national chapters, not saying it's a bad thing it's just odd. They have to register parties and they are all at war with each other which is stupid since it just makes them weaker when it comes to dealing with the University. The amount each frat expects in dues here is funny as I thought Greek life at my University was mediocre. Word of advice just save your money and go clubbing in the bars at midtown.

So anyone comparing us to traditional greek schools aren’t understanding that we have our own individual Greek life. We aren’t trying to be like that. We get really involved in our community and have made great friendships in Greek park. It’s way more intimate because you actually matter since you’re not ignored in a swarm of thousands. I’ve had some of my best memories here! My best friend went to UT and rushed Tri Delt (top house) and ended up dropping 2 years later because it was so fake and snobby that no one cared about each other. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. We’re our own thing and it works well for us!
