the current state of jmu fraternities

Pike-Losing that house (?) but will still remain very good as long as they aren't the next to get kicked off
KA-similar to Pike, but in a worse situation with houses. Have places in forest that help with their mixers
ATO- Who knows? They can take multiple routes and some of it will depend on if they get to stay affiliated with nationals.
SN- Have Colonial now, which might be the best party house in Harrisonburg, but still have some odd kids. Their assets make them good either way.
PiKapp-don't know anyone in it, and have no idea where their houses
are, but they mix well. Pretty good but probably will stay only that.
DX-Have one of the best houses. Took the route of renaming their fraternity but it might actually work for them. Younger guys seem weird though.
SX-Not initiating many pledges. Still surviving from reputation and a couple decent houses. It will be a while if they come back.
SigEp-predominantly nova kids from my experience. Decent overall but they need a signature house to move up.
KS-still have the occasional banger w/ other frats and mixers. Getting some pledges. Doubt they'll fade entirely. LXA and SigEp were both off for a number of years and came back eventually.
LXA- Got KS' smaller house. Big pledge class possibly improving.
DS and Fiji- no idea dont know many of them
Overall, it seems JMU is trending towards anti-greek, and the margin between on and off campus is shrinking. It is definitely an interesting situation.

I agree with what you say about on vs off. the lines are blurring.
Also, with no fraternity row, the success of JMU Frats is more dependent on which properties they can sign for. (ex: DX kicked off but still relevant because they have a great house. same with KS prior to losing Colonial)
The point is that recent off campuses like ATO and SX can still have success if they hold onto their houses and promote themselves properly. It just different here than it is at an SEC school where the money pours into the the frat system and even the worst ones have mansion type houses, chef, etc.

Though it seems like JMU is trying to get rid of fraternities entirely, they have been making some steps to keep them involved on campus. For instance KA has a house on "greek row" and next year both SN and TKE will be taking the remaining tree houses. All this increased regulation sucks but I guess that's just life.

Sig Chi is too high. But everything else is pretty accurate

Sig ep and pi kapp are pretty accurate and KAs definitely gonna stay on top regardless of houses. LXs not too relevant but their past pledge class was super cool and big so i can see them going up

I think KA is trending away from a Pike type status and more towards a reputation for mayhem like the southern fraternities (SX,KS and even SAE way back when) had before they crossed lines and got the boot. Its weird that they are getting an on campus spot. The house helps them, but their aggression could eventually put them at odds with the school. The way jmu is cracking down it seems like someone will be next eventually, and my vote would be on them (but its anyone's guess really.) Not that they are a bad frat, in a sense their attitude is what all the old great fraternities used to have. But JMU doesn't see frats in this way, and they seem to be trying to get rid of this mindset altogether.
