It's just how they're perceived at JMU. The girls in the sorority make the rankings. So going with that, then AST is ranked so low because they don't do so well during recruitment and don't have "the greatest" girls so to speak. SK is always ranked so high because they are very well liked socially and have attractive girls. Basically SK is a top tier sorority and AST is a bottom tier sorority

But you should really keep an open mind with the rankings. You won't really get a feel for the sorority until you're in the house talking with the girls in each one

Here's a non-sorority opinion on the ranks. A lot of the rankings are just sororities ranking each other which is usually scathing and usually untrue. SK and AST personality-wise are really similar. They're both partygirl sororities who don't really seem to care about what other people think of them while also not being exceedingly rude in the process. That being said SK usually does very well during recruitment which is why they are usually ranked higher than AST.

What do you mean by 'does well during recruitment'?

They usually make quota, get most of the girls they want, and they seem to all get along. Sorority recruitment is a lot more complicated than fraternity rush so I don't know everything about it but that is just what I see.
