Anything and everything. When I was a freshman, my hallmate who was pledging a different sorority came back drunk and told us that upperclassmen had driven them to UVA where they were tied up in a frat basement while fraternity guys screamed insults at them for hours. People pretend like jmu doesn't haze, but it does. It's just done very very carefully. Not all sororities haze, but it is definitely out there.

This is a really strange allegation and I've never heard of this ever happening... My sorority has a zero hazing policy so this just seems odd to me.

i mean if she was lying, then she was lying, but she had zero motivation to lie to me about her hazing experiences. she also exposed details of her hazing that i believe would have been to specific to make up. think what you will, but if PNMs are gonna rely on this site for insight (which is a ridiculous idea), then i'm at least going to be honest. she did rush one of the three or so sororities that are known for hazing though.

CAREFUL about rumors when you're rushing. All I heard when I was rushing was "SK hazes the worst out of all the sororities" and so I didn't join. Later it turned out (from a friend) that sk doesn't even haze or at least not badly at all. Really annoyed about this. I also heard during recruitment that DDD hazed a lot and other friends of mine told me that thats completely false. Yeah they could be lying but what would I care if they weren't?

Coming from a fraternity guy my knowledge of sororities which haze are SK, DDD, and maybe ZTA.
However their hazing is nothing bad at most just lots of drinking with fraternities like ATO, PiKapp and KA. It's mostly meant to link their new members with the brothers in the fraternity chapters in order to maintain long term bonds.

ZTA hazes definitely. SK and tri-delt do not. AST was on probation this year for hazing allegations.

You obvious don't have any knowledge on it cause I'm in one of those sororities and we definitely didn't get hazed.

Sororities DONT HAZE. I'm in one of those and was NEVER hazed, not in the slightest bit! And I have friends in the others who weren't hazed so idk what you're talking about

Some Greek organizations haze and some do not. Of course jmu and the state of Virginia determine hazing to be illegal, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Those of you who didn't go through hazing, congratulations! That doesn't mean the initiation process for other organizations is the same. Unless you've been through every initiation of every Greek life organization, you don't know first hand. Feel free to dislike my comment idc. Sometimes the truth is unpopular :)

National Panhellenic considers ANYTHING hazing. When you’re a new member you’re not allowed to wear stitched letters until you’re initiated. That’s technically considered hazing. So yes, sororities at JMU do stupid fake hazing like that but nothing like making you eat weird stuff or drink when you don’t want to lol

Hi! I’m in “one of the sororities that hazes” and we have an absolute ZERO tolerance for hazing whatsoever. We take it very seriously. I have very close friends in other sororities and they have also never had any hazing experiences. PLEASE do not try to make other sororities look bad if you no nothing about them or their policies. ZTA, Tri Delt, ASA, SK do NOT haze. If you experience anything of the sort, report it to your president.

Oh it’s horrible. You get these baskets filled with presents. Then usually you get secret cards that says nice things about you! Then there are gift cards, free clothes, and free food.
The hazing is outrageous!!!
