by: PNMWhat do most sororities look for in PNMs? For the top tiers is it basically based on looks?

We will mostly look for girls that will fit into our sisterhood. You should be nice and genuine and be able to bring something to the table for the sorority. As for the top tiers, they definitely don't only care about looks. That's why they're so competitive. They want girls with personality, who are nice and will support their philanthropy and looks are always a plus.

Sororities look for girls who have similar values, are well rounded, are interested in taking an active role in the sorority, and are overall just a good fit. I think it's pretty safe to say none of the sororities are very cookie cutter anymore with only one distinctive characteristic or personality so it's really just about finding a great group of different girls who together make up an awesome sisterhood. I really don't think top tier is solely based on looks; it's based the whole package. My best advice is to go into recruitment with an open mind and just follow your gut and don't listen to anyone else's opinions. Joining a sorority is one of the best decisions you'll ever make no matter which one you choose. You'll end up where you're meant to be!

Ok top tiers are definitely not all based on looks. I know so many gorgeous girls who got dropped by every single sorority because they just didn't have any personality. Don't be fooled by thinking if you're hot you're just gonna magically get a bid. Being in a top tier sorority, we look for the entire package. There are TONS of pretty girls at jmu, but pretty on the outside doesn't always mean pretty on the inside. EVERY sorority is gonna be looking for someone who is going to be loyal to the sorority, someone who is friendly and someone who's personalities mesh well with the other girls. Just be yourself! Remember to go into each house with a big smile on your face. If they ask what clubs you've been in in college or high school or if they ask you what you want out of a sorority, they're looking for loyalty. If they ask about your major, they're looking at how studious you are. If they ask you silly questions like "whats your favorite emoji" or "what's the craziest thing you've ever done", they're looking at your personality as a whole. Most of this is based on my own sororities recruitment and what my rho gamma had told me.

be yourself, dress like yourself, and don't be too nervous. Recruitment is two sided, sororities want you to want them just as much as you want to be invited back. Recruitment is a really tough and exhausting process but if you go into it with an open mind and go until the last day you will end up where you belong. Also don't talk about anything that would make you seem like a risk to their chapter and if you have a boyfriend don't talk about him the whole time.
