sorority reputations??

saw the other person do this and i want to to know how accurate my perceptions of each chapter is! (i rushed and then dropped, went thru cob for a few chapters then did not accept any bids)
this is also in alphabetical order because we’re not in high school anymore, there should not be “ranks” among beautiful women who just want to make a difference. popularity will not matter once you graduate!
please note this is just what i have heard! i know people in every chapter and there is no malicious intent, i support every chapter and i think everyone is beautiful and deserving of respect no matter what chapter they’re in. if i’m incorrect about something i’d love to be KINDLY corrected.
ADPI - really nice girls who love their philanthropy. very active sorority with lots of sisterhood events. not big party animals. heard they bid promised a few girls, also that some sisters asked a few weird questions to pnms. heard they do not haze.
APHI - pretty girls but some are a little problematic. big party girls. some might be a little fake. cliquey sorority but girls seem to have a lot of fun. not super involved on campus besides a few events. heard they do not haze.
ASA - obviously very gorgeous girls. hit or miss on whether they’re mean or nice. pike groupies. sisterhood is not very strong. don’t have a lot of philanthropy events. huge party girls. heard they haze.
AST - party animals. strong sisterhood, and mr frat is very popular, otherwise people might forget about them. sigep groupies?? girls are mostly nice. low gpa. heard they do not haze.
TRIDELT - super fun girls who seem to genuinely love each other. sig nu groupies. very pretty. some are a little stuck up, most are nice though. heard they haze lightly.
GPHI - not a very desired sorority. heard girls are really nice but there is some drama in the chapter. dues are high because not many people want to be in the sorority. weird during recruitment. some are big party girls and others aren’t. heard they haze.
PHIMU - a lot of them are religious? smart and sweet, not messy. big into their philanthropy, lots of sisterhood events. some are huge party animals. some small drama within the chapter. heard they do not haze.
PHISIG - a pretty forgotten sorority but the girls seem nice. the girls seem to be close. many of them are very cute! not very involved on campus. heard they do not haze.
SK - pretty girls but many of them are mean, were even kicked out of greek sing for making fun of girls in other chapters. party animals, love dsig and ka. not a strong sisterhood, more focused on going out. on probation. heard they haze.
TRISIG - seen as a very desired sorority yet a lot of desired frats don’t like to mix with them. seem very interested in their philanthropy. heard some are mean and there are cliques. girls have like a “cool girl” type of vibe. heard they do not haze.
THETA - smart girls that do well in school. cliquey sorority for sure. some girls are super nice, some are super mean, no in between. loved by many frats. work hard play hard. on greek rank very often, though. heard they do not haze.
ZTA - pretty girls but huge problems with drama with girls who live in the row house. other than the row house drama. sisterhood seems strong. some girls seem a little stuck up. huge party girls. dsig groupies. loved by many frats. really cute merch i see all over campus. heard they haze.

theta and aphi have a good amount of religious girls - theta members founded the Greek intervarsity
if you’re worried about hazing, most sororities do not, but you can look to see who’s gotten in trouble on jmu fsl website, sometimes these are just for having alcohol at events.
Tri sig got in trouble a few years back but their exec seems stronger and to be more on top of things now.
AST got in trouble last year but they’re just on disciplinary probation now so nothing bad.
ASA got in trouble a few years back and then was suspended this past fall and supposedly in trouble with their nationals - not sure why but seem fine now.
SK was also suspended this past fall and now is restricted to dry chapter events until fall 2025

Some of the sororities that you said did not haze actually do haze lightly but the hazing for sororities at this isn’t actually that bad compared to SEC schools. Personally I think Theta is more religious than Phi Mu and some sororities you say are not active around campus like Aphi and SK are actually more active than you think

this all makes a lot of sense thank you! i had no idea theta was so religious i had never heard that before and i also hadn’t heard of sk and aphi being so involved! i also have only included hazing because some people i know swear they weren’t hazed! do you know which sororities that i said don’t haze actually do? i want my information to be accurate :)

would definitely need a little bit of help w frat ranks, i don’t know too much about most of them but i could definitely try and ask my friends who are more frat-goers than i am!

Do one for Pike, Snu, KA, A sig, Phi psi, ATO ,D sig, theta chi, kappa sig, DTD, sig ep, lambda, and pi kapp. After that not as important. make it nice and unbiased like this I like how u did it

The frats you should talk about are the ones that actually have sorority relations such as Pike, Snu, KA, A sig, Phi psi, ATO ,D sig, theta chi, kappa sig, DTD, sig ep, lambda, pi kapp, Fiji, TKE and KDR. The last two aren’t as important but they do get some phi sig or adpi mixers. An important factor is a tight brotherhood with guys that actually care and look out for each other. Some frats can be fake nice during rush and not act genuine or act like they care about you. Another factor can be Friday night parties and darties and if they have strong relationships with other frats/srats. When mixers occur fraternities should mention the other fraternities they are mixing with in the sorority group chats. This might be hard to find out but some frats pay for all the beer for a better fraternity in order to mix with them.

My roommate is in zeta and said they def didn’t haze her. She’s a freshman so I’m not sure about the row house issues but she’s made some great friends in her class and they’ve all seemed nice to me
The tri sig girls I’ve met were pretty rude, but that’s only a couple girls in one of my classes. I don’t know much about the sorority
Aphi def having some issues but my friend that’s in it really sweet. Her sisters that I’ve met have def seemed like party girls. Not sure if she’s gonna stay in or drop
I haven’t had great experiences with Tri Delt. Every sorority has girls that are nice, and those that aren’t, but the majority of the tri delts I’ve met have seemed stuck up
Have heard similar things as you about SK & ASA, but girls I’ve met were mostly really nice. I know more ASA girls than SK.
Girls I know in Phi Mu and Theta are really sweet
Most of the sorority girls I know are freshmen so not sure about the older girls

I’ve found the same thing with tri delt. The ones I know aren’t very nice, although I’m sure there are exceptions. From my experience tho they talk about each other behind their backs and seem to think they are better than everyone else. A girl I really liked at the beginning of the year got really snotty after she joined
A few of my close friends are in ASA & ZTA and they told me tri delt has a bad rep in Greek life.
That’s really the only bad experience I’ve had personally. I have heard that Aphi has some questionable/ problematic girls and that their reputation isn’t the best because of that, and the sort of fake / superficial feel of the chapter.
I know AST & SK are on probation, but I don’t know what for.

had no idea adpi were big into parties! my friends who are in adpi aren’t huhe on it and they told me their closest friends don’t either so that was where i got that from, thank you for letting me know.

definitely didn’t mean it in a derogatory way! i think the word groupie is silly, last semester i was a self proclaimed groupie of one particular frat and i was comfortable with all of my friends and the people around me calling me that. and these aren’t opinions just things i’ve heard! if you ask me my opinions i like every chapter and don’t necessarily agree with everything i wrote/heard this is just what i think the general view is, not reflective of my own.

Gotcha, yeah, that makes sense. I do appreciate your approach to the whole thing in general. There really are great girls in all of the chapters and it’s interesting to hear an alternate perspective that isn’t primarily derogatory.

none of them felt too much like home to me. found my home within other organizations that i love and i didn’t feel the need to spend money on sorority dues. with that being said i completely understand why people do go through recruitment all the way and i think it’s a wonderful thing for many! just didn’t feel right for me.

I would be careful who you talk about with hazing. you could start problems based off of rumors you’ve heard. sometimes other sororities start rumors that aren’t true and posting things like that on here can be very damaging. I’m a freshman in one of the sororities you mention haze and I was not hazed at all nor do I know anyone in my class that was.

what you said makes so much sense and i completely agree! i am not a gossip by any means, and i don’t go around telling people which sororities i think haze. i was just relaying what i have heard, the point of the post was to show the reputations that each sorority has based on what i’ve seen and heard, with that being said, i’m sure not everything i said was 100% accurate and i appreciate that you told me that i was incorrect in a kind way. i am glad you are happy that you were not hazed! my goal was never and will never be to start problems or put down other sororities. i tried to put good and maybe some things that aren’t seen as good in each category to give an unbiased view. anything i put could already be found on greekrank anyway, i just condensed it and put it into one big post. thanks again for your comment! it was really helpful and insightful. :)

go dukes - completely understand what you are saying and why you said it. just sometimes people on here take what is said as bible and run with it and love the drama. i know you weren't trying to start drama but this site is all about the drama.

If I had to make recommendations for rush in the fall, being as diplomatic as possible, here’s what I’d say:
Out of the current “top” 4, the only one I’d personally recommend is ASA. They’re generally kind, fun, pretty girls.
SK is on probation through fall 2025. I’m not sure the full extent of the situations they’re on probation for, and anyone who wants to be able to participate in mixers, etc. will be out of luck if they choose to go SK.
Aphi and Tri Delt have some reputation issues, and from what I’ve seen personally, they wouldn’t be my choice. That being said, you might feel differently.
The only other red flag is AST, who is also on probation.
Just my opinions. It always makes the most sense to go in having done your research, but also to keep an open mind and go with the chapter that feels right for you.

I completely agree.
It’ll be interesting to see how fall recruitment turns out. Without a doubt it’ll be tough for SK & AST to recruit, particularly with such a long probation period for SK. Next year is pretty much a wash socially. Pretty sure that’s what happened to Tri Sig a few years back.

Tri Sig dropped from top to mid after there suspensions and I bet SK will do the same. Zeta might eventually move up to the number 4 spot in like a year or so when it really starts to hurt SK. AST might move down a little but I doubt they will be in as much trouble as SK but they might move down to ADPIs level.

would love to know what is accurate and what seems biased! i tried not to hold any bias especially because i know people in each chapter and didn’t want to put down any chapters.
