what is “wrong” with the bottom tiers?

It’s honestly mostly historical. Newer chapters don’t have the same connections chapters that have been on campus for decades do. So older chapters will have more frat connections and “better” social schedules that will make them more desirable and harder to get into so they can be more selective to which girls they get and will recruit more for looks.
IMO the sororities here all have hot girls, even the “bottom” chapters, girls just have a tendency to drop those because they care about social status. They are still good sisterhoods that have the same leadership experiences and get mixers

This isn’t true of every chapter but it definitely helps. It just comes down to good looks and mixer schedules in the end for rankings at jmu which is messed up. SEC schools actually care about other things like sisterhood and grades
