midriff on the row

by: :|

i find it kind of hypocritical that pnms were told to show absolutely no midriff and people were publicly called out for it when half the houses have work crop tops as their recruitment fits

tbh though it’s definitely fairer to pnms if it’s enforced for all of them not to show their stomachs

IMO the crop tops were inappropriate for the sororities to wear. They’re advertising and marketing their sorority to potential new members and they look like they’re advertising for Hooters quality girls

I think that is literally the type of girl they want

Agree, you don’t have to wear a crop top to look cute but it gave the impression these girls are kinda cheap

Im in one of the sororities that wore a crop top and was actually lowkey embarrassed about it, i didn’t think it projected a very classy image

the pnms wear the same shirt to promote a even playing field in early rounds and an opportunity to accessorize as they want. making an issue out of the sororities wearing crop tops is a reflection of your own perception that we have to be covered up to be taken seriously. as a panhellenic community we should be promoting girls supporting girls no matter what the girls choose to wear. it’s so embarrassing in 2021 to be commenting about girls bodies and that if skin is showing they aren't classy and shouldn’t be taken seriously. the rules set by panhellenic themselves should be questioned and conversations revolving around partially underage girls bodies is disgusting and outdated. please fine something better to talk about

i made this original post and to be clear, i don’t have an issue with the sororities choosing to wear crop tops if they please, only that i literally watched pnms get asked to change the way their tops were -in front of dozens of people publicly- to avoid showing midriff when this wasn’t the standard for everyone.

literally the shirt cropping on pnms is to even the playing field as well. This shirt issue is about to make Panhellenic make sororities wear matching shirts in early rounds too like other schools do too. I wouldn’t be surprised if the sororities were given a no shirt cropping rule too.

My issue with the cropped shirts isn’t the girls showing skin. I honestly thought the shirts were sooo cute at first until I realized every sister was required to wear a crop top. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable some sisters were and how scared of stupid things like bloating some of them were and it’s so sad to see some of you defending the shirt choice instead of checking in with every single sister that they have the option of wearing what they like.
It really just shows where your chapters’ priorities are… you’d rather have everyone showing skin than everyone be comfortable.

If it’s inappropriate for PNMs to wear that, the sororities should have enough sense to know that it’s inappropriate for them to wear that also. So stupid

Welcome to jmu. Most the sororities have no sense here

Take that up with panhel. They approve of the sororities outfits therefore they let them wear those shirts. The girls in asa, sk, aphi, tri delt, etc. would be getting infractions if their shirts were not approved. However I understand that the fact pnms dont have a choice,
but sorority girls do, is def unfair

Aphi pays off all their infractions from dirty rushing already so even if they weren’t approved it wouldn’t matter

If they really dropped pnms over wearing crop tops they’re being hypocrites and putting a bad image on the whole sorority

I think it’s an outdated thing to tell the pnms but it is more said to even the playing field for pnms that don’t want to crop their shirts now. The whole point of wearing matching shirts the first in person round is so that how stylish a person is doesn’t dictate their experience and their personality can shine

Just make sure you all take note of things like that. The sorority outfit choices speak volumes to each chapters ideals and deeper images. Not every person in a 200+ person org is going to be comfortable in a super small crop top, and some sororities totally disregarded that concept by forcing little cropped shirts onto all of their members. Are those groups something you want to be a part of?
