Dont let JMU fool you. Virginia is a southern school with a heavy northern population. Its funny how you meatheads keep trying to say JMU is northern just cause you embarass yourself with your everyday outfits. The fraternities that dress nice arent wierd thats how normal fraternities dress

We are southern, fraternities in the south need to keep up with the looks, period. Judging on frattyness, we would have DX, KS, SX, Sig Ep, LXA, SN, Fiji, Pikkap, Theta, Pike, KA, ATO, TKE in that order, but we aren't doing it on frattyness alone rather frattyness and how many sororities they pull.

That being said:
1 DX/SX
2 KA/ATO only because of popularity
3 Pike/KS/LXA
4 SN/PiKap
5 Sig ep/DeltaSig/Fiji
6 Theta Chi/TKE
7 If anyone else is left

Everyone has their biased opinions but this is the general consensus.

If you're fratty join DX or KS.
If you're from the North, join Pike, KA, or ATO.
If you want something in between, go Sigma Chi
If you are a stoner, join LXA or Pi Kapp.
If you just want to be in a fraternity, join Delta Sig, TKE, Theta Chi, or SigEp"

Below. That might of been the general consensus three years ago, but not next semester. Everyone acts like fraternities never change. Sig Chi is very fratty, a lot frattier than previous years. KS is probably getting balled. LXA is not as "stonerish" as they were in the past. Pi Kapp, well, that might be the same. SigEp isn't even chartered. Delta Sig is at least trying, so is Theta Chi. TKE is a joke, not a fraternity. However, KA, Pike and ATO are northern, so I give you that, but even though I hate northern fraternities, I must say I give them props for keeping a good image with sororities. Sorry, but that "general consensus" you keep cluttering the boards with was accurate like 3 or 4 years ago, but not today. Try harder

From a girl's perspective...

If you wanna be something after college, rush KS/DX/SX. Everyone else might be alright, maybe even fun but they won't prepare you for life as a social gentleman. KA ought to but they're guidos

Are you talking about how these fraternities form men? Or are you talking about nationally? I know for a fact that DX is NOT a national powerhouse. If you want connections after college (which is where it really counts), LXA, Pike, SX, KS are big powers while SN, Fiji, SigEp(laugh), and Pi Kapp are also pretty strong

Where are the all the fratty vineyard vines wearing, country music lovers, trunk enthusiast, skeet shooting, hunting, croakie wearing, good looking southern gentlemen? Its a shame really that jmu accepts so many people above the mason Dixon line. So many Yankees taking over Greek life it's sad

Agreed. But I've notice that some fraternities are keeping that tradition and some are trying to come back to their southern roots. however, I think we all know KA is one of the biggest disgraces to it's national reputation, hell, Lambda is more southern than them
