what are the real sorority rankings here?
by: HaylieWhat are the real sorority rankings here? Top tier? Mid Tier? Bottom Tier?

Ran into this randomly while doing research for a chapter adviser thing (not at Case, down more east and south-ish). So, I went through recruitment at Case way back in the dinosaur days when DG was colonizing (like 2004).
I will freely admit I am a Phi Mu, and I joined there because the girls I knew I liked a lot, they were big into campus leadership, and were ridiculous, competitive, smart, and fun. While they did top my pref card, AXO was second for similar reasons. Look for what you want in a chapter, and while it will definitely shape your college experience simply due to the amount of time you spend together, it is NOT the end all be all for your Case and Greek Life experience.
I love getting together with my Phi Mu's when we're in town with each other, but I also have a good group of friends from my freshman dorm that I hung out with (and lived with) throughout college that included 2 Phi Mus, an AXO, a DG and a Sigma Psi.
Reading through these posts was quite interesting, and I know I cared then (and, being a competitive Phi Mu am still interested now), but I also remember that all of my friends, whatever chapter they were in, had wonderful and similar experiences with candle passings, staying up all night getting ready for greek week, and eating junk food after a night out. So, pick gals you like, and if you want to change the reputation of that group, work hard and do it. Recruit that a crazy person, be involved in campus, be an orientation leader or RA! Woot!

I'd say that the majority of people at Case agree with this...this isn't to say that the top choices should be more desirable than the "bottom" ones, but in terms of desirability during recruitment, I think most people would agree with this:
TOP
Phi Mu
Alpha Phi
MID
Kappa Alpha Theta
Delta Gamma
LOW MIDDLE
Alpha Chi Omega
Pi Beta Phi
BOTTOM
Tri Sigma (mostly because they're brand new)
Sigma Psi (local chapter)
Phi Rho (very specific engineering sorority)

This is why it is stupid to pick a sorority based off of its rankings: The letters you wear won't make you any more or less hot than you currently are, but they can make your college experience better or worse. So just pick whatever sorority you think will make your college experience better and wear your letters with pride.

If you're hot/a badass/go hard, go aphi
If you're basic/sweet/social, go phi mu
If you're smart and fun, go theta
If you're an athlete and kinda dorky, go dg
If you're a feminist, go a chi o
If you like staying in/being silly with the girls, go pi phi
If you like anime, go sig psi
If you're all about your stem classes, go phi rho
If you're not sure where you fit in, go tri sig

Can someone please explain to me why DG is now top tier? They did get a good pledge class, but I don't think they're any better than pi phi or theta.
