Can someone please explain to me why DG is now top tier? They did get a good pledge class, but I don't think they're any better than pi phi or theta.

@really? DG isn't the top house, but they are for sure above pi phi. Honestly their probably about the same as theta when it comes to desirability from PNMs

I'd say there's 2 middle tiers.

Top: Phi Mu and Alpha Phi (they are on a different level than all others)
Middle Top: Theta and DG (DG has moved up but is NOT top, even they would agree)
Middle Bottom: AXO and Pi Phi
Bottom: Tri Sig (has potential, but new), Sigma psi, phi rho

Ran into this randomly while doing research for a chapter adviser thing (not at Case, down more east and south-ish). So, I went through recruitment at Case way back in the dinosaur days when DG was colonizing (like 2004).
I will freely admit I am a Phi Mu, and I joined there because the girls I knew I liked a lot, they were big into campus leadership, and were ridiculous, competitive, smart, and fun. While they did top my pref card, AXO was second for similar reasons. Look for what you want in a chapter, and while it will definitely shape your college experience simply due to the amount of time you spend together, it is NOT the end all be all for your Case and Greek Life experience.
I love getting together with my Phi Mu's when we're in town with each other, but I also have a good group of friends from my freshman dorm that I hung out with (and lived with) throughout college that included 2 Phi Mus, an AXO, a DG and a Sigma Psi.
Reading through these posts was quite interesting, and I know I cared then (and, being a competitive Phi Mu am still interested now), but I also remember that all of my friends, whatever chapter they were in, had wonderful and similar experiences with candle passings, staying up all night getting ready for greek week, and eating junk food after a night out. So, pick gals you like, and if you want to change the reputation of that group, work hard and do it. Recruit that a crazy person, be involved in campus, be an orientation leader or RA! Woot!

I will also fully admit that some didn't like us as a group for being overcompetitive perfect princesses, but where's there's bad there's good- we were outgoing, fun, could always be counted on to join a committee or project, and my GPA went up significantly because I knew scholarship was extremely important. And, at least in my years, our sisterhood was my favorite part of being a Phi Mu. There it is. And I'm an over competitive crazy perfect princess to this day so it was the right place for me!

I'd say that the majority of people at Case agree with this...this isn't to say that the top choices should be more desirable than the "bottom" ones, but in terms of desirability during recruitment, I think most people would agree with this:

TOP
Phi Mu
Alpha Phi

MID
Kappa Alpha Theta
Delta Gamma

LOW MIDDLE
Alpha Chi Omega
Pi Beta Phi

BOTTOM
Tri Sigma (mostly because they're brand new)
Sigma Psi (local chapter)
Phi Rho (very specific engineering sorority)

Do people really choose Theta over DG and AXO over Pi Phi?

I just went through recruitment so I can say that yes, girls typically prefer Theta over the mid-tier sororities.

what makes theta a better chapter than DG?

By: but why?
by: A couple facts for yallApr 6, 2015 7:47:55 PM

Theta and DG do NOT have a feud. I think they're actually pretty close, the girls in both chapters are really nice.

At recruitment this winter, most girls were going back to day 4 parties of a combination of 1) DG/aphi/phi mu, 2) AXO/piphi/theta, 3) sig psi/tri sig/phi rho. PNMs were literally commenting on how the sororities people were going back to seemed to be these combinations.

DG won greek week 2015.

AXO really needs to stop self-ranking/promoting on this site. It's kind of sad. The girls of that chapter are better than this...

This is why it is stupid to pick a sorority based off of its rankings: The letters you wear won't make you any more or less hot than you currently are, but they can make your college experience better or worse. So just pick whatever sorority you think will make your college experience better and wear your letters with pride.

Do people really think that Phi Mu is above APhi? APhi gets the girls Phi Mu wants, and the pledge class this year is x 100 better than any others.

If you're hot/a badass/go hard, go aphi
If you're basic/sweet/social, go phi mu
If you're smart and fun, go theta
If you're an athlete and kinda dorky, go dg
If you're a feminist, go a chi o
If you like staying in/being silly with the girls, go pi phi
If you like anime, go sig psi
If you're all about your stem classes, go phi rho
If you're not sure where you fit in, go tri sig

This is one of the worst posts on here. To make such generalizations about women is very annoying. I'm a feminist, athlete, smart, and social. Guess which sorority I'm in? My point is, I could be in any of them.

from what I can see, there are much more AXOs and A Phis "self-ranking" on here than Phi Mu. And they also get the most hate (demonstrated by this post), yet still stay classy. Respect
