What are the real sorority rankings here? Top tier? Mid Tier? Bottom Tier?

A Phi is definitely top notch. They won Greek Week this year and are competitive yet know how to have fun. Plus they only pick the smartest and prettiest girls and didn't have to give out snap bids like Phi Mu...

Idk, it kinda goes back and forth between phi mu and aphi as the best sorority and honestly, a lot of girls choose between those two on the last day of recruitment so they aren't that different. In general, girls who rush to be with the biggest partiers on campus go for aphi, whereas girls who want to have fun but also care a lot about their grades/other activities go phi mu. Aphi killed it in Greek week this year, while phi mu got the highest GPA so it depends on what you're looking to get out of a sorority.

Okay you clearly don't go to Case because PHI MU won greek year this year. Also to the comment by Anonymous12345, KAPPA ALPHA THETA had the highest Spring 2014 GPA this year. I don't know why you two both are doing on this forum making up whatever you want about the sororities here at Case when you don't even go here.

As for sorority rankings: They don't matter. Each sorority is unique, and if you are interested in joining one, make sure you join one in which you feel most comfortable and feel free to be yourself. Don't feel like you have to join a sorority that other people think is the "top tier". We could make a lot of different lists using different ranking systems. The point of Greek life here at Case is that there is something for everyone.

I'm sorry casenerd, but A phi picks girls based off of their looks and willingness to party (they've had the 5th ranked GPA the last 2 semesters). KAT and phi mu have really well rounded girls. Phi Mu usually ranks number one and I would rank theta at 2. Alpha phi only appeals to certain people.

@igotocase: aphi won greek week 2014.... phi mu won 2013....

but you are absolutely right that there is something for everyone in greek life and you shouldn't choose based on rankings. choose based on where you feel comfortable and where you are surrounded by people you aspire to be like

How many girls accepted bids from Tri Sigma?

theta is slipping... wouldn't call them top tier anymore.

i'd say aphi and phi mu top
DG, theta, achi, pi phi mid
sig psi and phi rho at the bottom

tri sigma is too new to rank, but if they recruit as well as pi phi did (colonized in fall 2013), they could be mid tier in a year

I'd just like to point out that Phi Mu and Alpha Phi had to cut a lot more girls than any other sorority... GREEK LIFE MADE THEM CUT THEM AT THE BEGINNING because they have such a high return rate. I think that in itself says a lot.

I'd just like to point out that last year during recruitment, APhi, Phi Mu and Theta all had about the same number of girls in their pref rounds (somewhere between 55-65).

Also, I'd like to point out that the matching system is based not only on the PNMs preferences for that year, but also on how well chapters have done in the past 3 recruitments. So if a chapter was one of the top recruiting chapters in the past, it had to cut more girls. And because our campus has only been using computer matching for 2 recruitments, the system doesn't work perfectly and having low numbers may not be an indicator of how well you are doing. Like we saw with Phi Mu last year, sometimes it can screw you over.

Wait...there are so many Thetas involved with Varsity track and swimming, water polo, and dance...that seems pretty athletic...
Also Theta has won a couple IM titles and placed 3rd in variety show in Greek week last year and 2nd in rope pull.

This is just me giving a perspective on how some people felt last recruitment. I personally cut phi mu the second day. I chose DG, Theta, and AXO over them. People are hesitant to change the rankings that they feel have always existed at case, but phi mu and aphi are no longer everyone's first choice.

A big thing to look at when considering what tier a sorority is in is their retention rate. If they have a lot of girls dropping out obviously something is wrong with the sorority. From what I hear APhi and Phi Mu are two of the biggest sororities who don't do a great job of keeping their girls. It just makes you think, what kind of stuff is going on which makes their members drop out...

Alpha phi and Phi Mu both have a great retention rate. Girls drop from EVERY sorority, but very few from these. They have never had to do fall recruitment (except APhi After the membership review) unlike most other sororities (like pi phi this year). Please get your facts right. You HEAR about the women dropping from these sororities bc they are the most popular, not bc many people do it.

Let's be honest: tiers and rankings really don't matter. Each chapter is filled with amazing, brilliant women who live by the chapter's unique set of values. Everyone on this site is just trying to put others down so they feel better about themselves. If you're considering going through recruitment, join the chapter where you feel the most comfortable and disregard any "rankings."

I agree! If you are concerned about rankings or joining the "top" house, you're concerned with the wrong thing. Go into rush with an open mind, genuinely be real, and look for what feels like a fit. Getting caught up in popularity can make for a miserable 4 years. No one will ever care if your sorority was popular or not after you graduate, and honestly nor will you. You'll want to have sisters for life…girls that will support you through the ups and downs well after college is over. You'll want to feel a connection…sometimes the "popular" houses may not have that feeling at all for you. Joining a sorority is something you do for YOU not for how you are perceived by others.

Aphi, phi mu, dg

Theta, pi phi

Phi Rho, sigma psi, tri sig

Aphi is the hottest by far. Phi mu is the prettiest and sweetest but can be fake and prissy. Dg is the coolest. Middle tier sororities are sometimes fun and sometimes pretty, that's where you start to get a little questionable, then bottom tier are...bottom tier
