hello to all ‘25 girls!! greek life at ucsb is such a minority so understand that being a part of greek life will not be the end all be all of your college experience. as for if you do join there as some really important things to know about each house and how things will likely go for you. this list is also not in order of rank!
pi phi: this house will be perfect for you if you’re looking for superficiality. there are a few girls that are actually very genuine but their members are overarchingly social climbers. joining pi phi will entail a LOT of superficial friendships and very few genuine ones. the girls are typically very self absorbed so don’t expect most of them to be a rock in your life. socially they are very attractive to the frats so they receive a lot of attention in that aspect. if you join pi phi expect for all of your friends to be in pi phi as they rarely give the time of day to anyone without that tag in their bio.
aphi: aphi has been a top house for a while now but that’s seems to be fading fast. most aphis are very friendly and genuine women. you will have fun if you like to party. with that being said they have serious diversity issues so if you are a woc or consider yourself to be an ally you will likely be very uncomfortable in this house. it’s more of a structural issue with their recruitment process than on an individual basis so that is something to consider.
dg: dgs are some of the sweetest girls i’ve ever met. strong sisterhood so if having a close knit group of girls is important to you this house will provide that for you. as for social life they are very well liked by frats but don’t quite have the same pull as aphi and pi phi. if you join dg you will likely have a great experience as well as friends in lots of other sororities as they’re a lot less exclusive. dg is also likely going to become the new “top” house
kappa: kappa is very similar to dg in the sense of having a strong sisterhood without the exclusivity however with kappa there is a mixed bag where half the girls party a lot and are well liked by the frats and the other half are much more introverted and school oriented. if you’re someone who is unsure about joining greek life because you’re not that into the stereotypical idea of what a sorority is then kappa will be a great house for you. also draws in a lot of girls in stem so if having that surrounding you is important to you then this will be a good house for you as well.
theta: theta has had a reputation for being not like other girls and very chill for a while now but a lot of their new girls do not fit that stereotype at all. it seems like they’re moving away from that chill vibe so keep that in mind if that’s something you’re looking for. on the flip side they have tended to be pretty removed from the frats but with this new wave of girls that seems to be going away. really strong sisterhood without the exclusivity like kappa and dg.
axo: axo has some of the strongest sisterhood and philanthropy and looks very good on paper. if you join axo expect to have a very genuine and laid back experience. they aren’t very social and don’t have very strong frat relations so if thats not something you’re into this house will be perfect for you.
adpi/gphi: most diverse, amazing sisterhood, very sweet, don’t really party!!

pnm’s... don’t listen to this biased review of the houses at UCSB. there is quite a bit to me is WAY off with this person’s opinion. she’s trying to portray herself as helpful, but really she’s not. you’ll hear it again and again, but ignore random advice on GR and honestly listen to your gut when you go through recruitment. you’ll end up actually happy with your srat that way. :)

pretty obvious to me what house this person is in. i'm not going to call the house out, but i'll encourage pnms recognize this is ONE person's opinion based on her narrow experience. if you ask 10 ppl from all different houses, you'll get 10 different opinions.
fact is, greek life is VERY chill at ucsb and every house offers something amazing to its members. houses aren't exclusive like at some other colleges. that's just not how it is. some might try and act like they are better, but that's just not the reality i see. everybody i know has friends in other houses besides their own and hang out together.

as true as that is girls are going to make their way onto this site anyway so they may as well base their decisions off of something constructive and somewhat accurate rather than random hate comments and self ranks. i feel like these descriptions hold pretty true in a broad sense. everyone’s experience will be different tho
