What makes alpha phi better than pi phi?

Hi, Im looking to potentially join a house this year and was wondering what factors made alpha phi a better house than pi phi? My main focus in what Im looking for is philanthropy. After looking into the different philanthropies at the school it seems like these two have the strongest philanthropies. After asking around it seems like most people tend to prefer alpha phi over pi phi. What is the reason for that? They seem pretty similar in presentation.

couldn’t agree more. neither is thought of for their community service at UCSB. they definitely don’t support other frats/srats philanthropy events either

To be fair, aphi raises bank every year and piphi does arrowjam which is a huge event. However, philanthropy and community service is not the main focus for really any Greek house as they are social orgs and people join for friends and parties

UCSB gives awards to sororities each year for philanthropy. If philanthropy is a large factor in your decision you could look into which houses have won awards or your can ask the girls in each house during recruitment

If you’re joining an organization for “philanthropy” then maybe you shouldn’t try to join the most superficial “top” houses that are literally blacked out with frat guys at their philanthropies.

Please tell me you’re kidding, if you actually care about philanthropy you wouldn’t care about titles. Goodluck when you join a house that everyone hates and realize they don’t care about philanthropy but instead just strip in front of frat guys and call that “philanthropy”

Alpha Phi is known to be good because they make more money than all of the other chapters for their philanthropy. That being said pi phi does throw a big dance event that others attend and donate to so in reality they both do their part. The girls in both houses aren’t thought of as the philanthropic type but those houses use their clout to raise a good amount of money for charity so at least that’s cool

pi phi only supports their event-every house participates in their arrowjam, but they DON’T support the other house’s philo events. Selfish. Period.
