pi phi: something to consider
by: yikesSo the only people who care about this site are incoming freshmen and sorority/fraternity exec boards but here we go anyways. As a once member of pi phi, I can honestly say this sorority is disgusting. Ya, they’re a top house full of influencers, but there is virtually no sisterhood, and if there is any it is very very exclusive. After going through the other side of recruitment last year, I dropped because it made me feel like a horrible human being. Exec shows a slide show of all the influences/hot girls they “want” so actives know who to be overly nice to. They rig recruitment so the “hot” actives only talk to the “hot” pnms. They beg members to rep them on social media, and then untag “undesirable” members insta posts from the pi phi insta page. They absolutely dirty rush. They “hide” girls they don’t want pnms to see in the dining room for the entire week but still require them to be there for nearly the whole month of September. There is a massive superiority complex in most of the girls and they really do all lowkey hate each other. I can’t speak on the other houses, but I think pi phi is worse than any of the rest. Join a different house or don’t rush, greek life is very overrated at UCSB and the only people who care about it are greeks.

hi fellow sister, I dropped pi phi too so I can 100% say that you spoke the (sad) truth. this organization only cares about the image and title and there is virtually no sisterhood because they spend all their time making sure everything is picture perfect. behind the closed doors it’s entirely something else.

I ranked pi phi toward the bottom of my list after the first round last year because the vibe felt really fake to me. The girls I know who went pi phi complain about the cliques and drama, so I’m glad I made that decision and love the house in in. Other houses offer a better sorority experience than pi phi does.
