y is everyone on here so mean

please take what you see on here with a grain of salt!! the majority of the greek community at ucsb is absolutely not like this. I have friends in like every sorority and I am always pleasantly surprised at how much everybody cares about uplifting other sorority women, supporting each other's philanthropies, etc.

Honestly it’s kinda how it is especially if you are in a “well-known” house, I don’t even want to use the word top because that’s the whole issue in particular is a few houses that all they are about it being top and fighting for being the best, prettiest, most liked by frats.
I would try going through the process and you’ll quickly realize which houses actually have a good sisterhood, care to ask you questions that aren’t related to the type of stores you shop at and kind of care you drive but instead what you do to help make the world a better place. You’ll see houses that every person looks the same, yes it’s scary and I would run, and you’ll meet houses that have a wide variety of kinds of people that ALL get along which is assuring you’ll not only find your people but also have support from others.

The culture on this website is not an accurate portrayal of the reality. I remember looking at stuff on here before I rushed and honestly... some of the stuff is true- but 95% is false. Right before rush week, the stuff on here made me expect that girls in different sororities couldn't be friends with one another (bc there seemed to be so much rivalry!) but that is noooott the case.
I did find my house and I made friends in 3 other houses because of the rushing process, which I was not expecting to happen at all. There are rude, ignorant, and superficial people in the panhell community, but this can also be said when referring to the people at UCSB as a whole. I have met people that are WAY more entitled in my bio lectures.
I joined a sorority my second year at ucsb (i'm a senior now) and I am so glad that I did. Being in the Panhellenic community has made me strive to be better and I feel like I have a stronger sense of community in IV. At the end of the day, I recommend rushing if you're interested. If you find girls that you click with, that's great! If not, you can always drop. IMO, It's better to try it out and see if its for you than to feel any sense of regret later on.
