How hard is it to get a sorority bid if you are from OOS and don't know anyone at UCSB? Is there a way to connect with people before school starts? I'm from the South and formal recommendations are required at SEC schools - should I get them for UCSB or will that make me look annoying? Looking for any advice...

Most people don't do letter of recs! You should be fine, I know lots of OOS girls who got into their top choice.
