Following up on something else I wrote: there are almost 2500 sorority PNMs each fall at the U of Alabama. Granted there's 18 NPC chapters there instead of UCSB's 10, but still, that's not even recruitment as we know it, that's a Darwinian struggle for survival.

My organization's house at 'Bama looks less like a house than like a mid-size government building. And our chapter at another southern flagship public university has over 400 actives! As with so much else about the south, it's a different world.
