At the beginning of UCSB's fall formal rush in 2017, Panhellenic issued "2017-18 CPC Financial Information for Parents," and that's where the following data comes from. The dues structure in 2018-19 will probably be about the same plus a little extra for inflation and whatnot.

The "New Member Fees" or dues for members in their first, pledge quarter, were in alphabetical order:

Includes Chapter Dues which pay for sisterhood or social events, alumni and parent weekends, recruitment activities, and slush funds for this or that purpose. Also includes the "Parlor Fee" which is your share of house upkeep costs, the housemother's salary and benefits, the cook/staff/security, a capital improvement fund.

If you live in, your active member quarterly dues are folded in along with the cost of your room and board, for a sum ranging last year from a high of $4257 at Kappa to $2810 at DG, with Tri Delta's $3000 representing an average. It's a good deal.

Also ask about additional fees during the year during recruitment - some houses "assess," which means you are charged if you miss mandatory chapter events ($40 for a chapter meeting for example). Other houses do not.

Additionally, some houses may charge to go to events like date parties, while others do not.
