leaving greek scene

I rushed last fall expecting my experience in Greek Life here to be an encouraging and rewarding part of my college experience. What I have found is a system plagued with a nasty competitive atmosphere and two-faced behavior. I went in hoping that my sorority would provide a community of people who could make my transition into school smoother, but the awful gossip and betrayals I have witnessed across the Greek system here is truly appalling and I have decided my happiness and values are at stake if I remain involved. I don't write this for attention, I write this as a call to make Greek Life here a positive and welcome component of the school rather than the destructive, nasty thing that it seems to have become.
