fall rush 2017

by:

Currently a first-year and now considering joining a sorority. Only a few sororities are participating in spring rush, so I was hoping to rush next fall. Does being a second-year reduce my chances? In other words, is being a second-year rushee unappealing to the houses?

not anymore! there is now a quota for 1st year and 2nd-3rd year members. houses that would previously take no 2nd/3rd years now have to take some.

Hey! To the person above, I didn't make this post but do you know if all sororities now have a quota for 2nd and 3rd years or just some? I wanted to rush but I'm not a first year anymore so I thought I lost my chance to rush a decent sorority. Thanks!

Not entirely certain but I agree with the person above ^^ I think all houses have a recruitment quota for 2nd/3rd years

Honestly, all of the houses consider 2nd Years during Fall. You just have to stand out.

It's 3rd years that have a slightly harder time (with the supposed "top" chapters) - but juniors can still get bids to half or more of the houses.

Good luck and see you in fall!

So do the top house have a quota for 3rd years or no? I would think that if a rule like that applied to one house, it would probably apply to all? I'm just confused, thanks

Yes, the quota for 2nd and 3rd years is a panhellenic rule so every panhellenic house that participates in recruitment will have to abide by the quota and invite back a certain number of older girls :)
