What’s with allowing SBCC guys to rush, pledge and become actives??!! I guess it helps the GPA. Curious to know what UCSB and national thinks

There’s literally zero reason to join a frat at UCSB. IV has more than enough parties for literally anyone to join. You’ll easily make friends that can take you do halfway decent parties. Frats will say their parties are better bc they spent thousands on it, but it’s really just like any other party but with tarps and a better chance of getting SA’d. You can make friends that have better and more fun parties than any frat could hope for.

If you are guy wanting to party, you need to rush a house. If you are a girl wanting to party, you do not need to rush a house. If you are looking for real friends, choose the house you rush very wisely and do a lot of research during rush/ ask around because there are certain houses for both frats and sororities that are actually friends with each other and certain houses that are fake with each other.

Greek life is very chill here and focuses more on parties than anything. Nice that popularity doesn't really matter since every house hosts really fun parties. Extremely hot girls tho.

UCSB Greek life is not the most diverse group, but that’s kinda indicative of the school not being the most diverse. It’s not so much about the friendship frats and sororities offer at ucsb, more the opportunity to party. Recommend to lower division students and transfers but by the time you’re a junior, you’re probably gonna be sick of iv parties and more into the dt scene

Greek life at UCSB is great if you are a freshman or junior transfer looking to make friends quickly and go to lots of parties. The houses are a good and cheap place to live in your sophomore year. But beyond that it’s kinda useless. If you have a few guy friends in a frat, you can get in as a boy (and UCSB’s house parties can be just as fun if not more after the no hard rule) and as a girl you literally just need to walk up to doors at parties and 9.5/10 times you’ll get in. So not essential for partying. It’s a fun experience but not worth the time or money after a year or two.

Love Greek life at UCSB! Greeks are very involved on campus and well rounded people who like to have a good time. Go Greek!

Good looking dude gets into a house and realize the guys around him are douches. Yeah we throw great socials but don’t offer the kind of brotherhood most are looking for. UCSB’s greek life is paying for parties to get laid. My real friendships I found outside greek life.

Greek Life at UCSB is great. Although not the typical type of Greek Life that you would see at bigger schools such as UCLA, UCSB Greek Life is an amazing experience that also gives you the opportunity to meet people who are not in Greek Life. One of the best decisions I have made.
