Why would anyone in their right mind pledge for them? I heard they settled since they needed numbers to stay alive. Maybe got 1 or 2 good guys. Either way, they are getting hazed like crazy so will probably end up with like 3-4 dropping. SAE is on the decline

sophomore here. was the incident last year the only reason why SAE is basically nonexistant and disrespected now? or were they already on a decline?

A bad reputation can not be caused by one incident. I'm sure that different people have different reasons to dislike them. Some lower ranked frats don't like the fact that SAE was more popular while having nothing to brag about. Unless a size of a frat house determines it's rank. We can't give you a full account on this site. What matters is that the top frats don't respect them, lower ranked frats annoyed by them and a lot of girls are trying to avoid them.

Phi mu is on decline. Most of their girls can be confused with phi phi. The girls who are still loyal to SAE are not the hottest ones. A small circle of true friends that they have is not going to make them look cool. What they have to offer is not enough to be a top tier. They fooled their recruits this year by promising them fun life, but what can they really offer if they have to hide from everyone and, unlike Elmo, they are not a part of an old, elite club/charitable organization.
