pledge class ranking

by: Curious

Was wondering how the other ladies that rushed would rank this years pledge class.

Personally, I think that my ranking is very different from the general consensus (I ranked based on philanthropy, national rep and the overall friendliness of sisters) but I was wondering if this is the status quo ranking:
Top tier:
Alpha Phi
Phi Mu

Middle tier:
Kappa Kappa Gamma/ Kappa Alpha Theta

Bottom:
Pi Beta Phi

Let me know what you think!

What's wrong with that? That was the honest impression that I got from the sororities. Like I said in the original post, I ranked everyone based off of their philanthropy, national rep and friendliness. Aphi and phi mu have cliche philanthropies and probably make no real difference and by your derogatory defensiveness, well personality is clear plus theta and kappa have the best national reps

I'm glad that you are supporting other sororities. Someone has to. I don't mind being low on your list, hopefully you are an independent thinker. But there are a couple of points I would like to address. First of all, no philanthropy is a "cliche", every charitable cause needs support, efforts and money. Second of all , Phi Mu has pretty original philanthropy, Katie Oppo ( I hope I spelled it right ) foundation, and they have, probably, the best fundraiser at Hopkins. Aphi supports heart health. Heart diseases are still the leading cause of premature death and disabilities. Not exactly a "cliche" either. Check your information on Theta's National reputation. Standing in ranks and reputation is not the same. The best way to prove your own worth is being happy with what you got. Good luck, I hope you will enjoy Greek life!

Really? That's what everyone rushing seemed to like. Almost everyone that I talked to either preferred theta/ phi mu, theta/ kappa or phi mu/ aphi. I did end up getting theta but I really did like it!

They "preferred" theta because everyone else dropped them

I don't think people dropped theta. People seemed really surprised with theta after theme round. A lot of people in my group were talking about preferring theta before voting

There weren't that many people dropped from phi mu and kappa

Do people not realize that sororities are allowed to invite back the SAME amount of people as the others. Yes. That means that Theta, Kappa and pi phi indeed did drop girls who got bids to phi mu and Alpha Phi. Yes. There are girls in Phi Mu and Alpha Phi that were in fact DROPPED by the other sororities. If that doesn't take you off your high horse...

Theta has them on Facebook. I don't know if it's in their page but a lot of people have shared the pledge picture

Lol the general consensus among everyone during rush seemed to be that no one wanted phi mu. No one put them for preference. Clearly a bunch of upperclassmen on here defending it.

Preference round observations for most popular preferences:
Aphi/ phi mu
Phi mu/ theta
Kkg/ theta
Phi mu/ kkg

Most of the girls in pi phi were only given the option of pi phi for preference

I know that APhi had their pick of the girls but I have to say that phi mu did a better job at the theme round. I always appreciate when someone puts efforts in order to get my attention. Phi mu definitely invested more time and maybe more money for their theme. Aphi was kind of boring. You can do so much with tropical/Hawaiian theme. You can do a rainforest cafe or something. They could have asked their members to donate extra money or items for points, since they have a point system. Do a better job next time! You have to, since you are a top sorority!

Uhhh, the Panhellenic Council sets the budgets for recruitment. No one sorority is allowed to spend more than another on any round. They all spend the same amount.

I know one of our new members was prefed by APhi and Pi Phi and she actively chose Pi Phi, while another was prefed by Phi Mu and Pi Phi and also actively chose Pi Phi (ie they ranked Pi Phi first- I know because I personally asked them about it). There's no use in making assumptions about everything because it really varies person to person, not everyone is obsessed with reputation. And honestly all of these new members, no matter where they are, are going to find close friends and will end up loving it, so I don't really understand why everyone is trying to put each other down.
