IX is an off campus girls' society. It functions like a sorority (they have date parties, bigs and littles, etc.) but they're much smaller, and are exclusive to Hopkins. They were born out of the old Kappa Alpha Theta chapter at Hopkins that lost its charter, but they are entirely unrelated to the new theta chapter on campus. They rush in the fall and you have to be invited to their events or accompany someone who was invited. They are known for hazing, but primarily because the traditional sororities have no hazing whatsoever.

Don't read the rankings, they're wildly inaccurate. Wait until you get on campus and see where you feel most comfortable. If you really can't help yourself and need to stalk something stalk the Instagram and Facebook accounts of the orgs.
