Don't let the stereotypes decide which fraternity/sorority to rush. Find out for yourself, and you'll figure out which one is right for you.
Guys: Hopefully you've gotten around to see what each fraternity is like during your first semester and have talked to some of the brothers. It's harder (but not impossible) to get a bid if the first time you've set foot in the house is during rush week.
Girls: If you're still iffy on going through recruitment, just do it. You don't have to commit to anything yet, and you get to know a lot of new people from just going through the process. Keep an open mind as you get to know the sisters of each sorority, and don't try too hard. Unless you're ok having heels on all day, bring a pair of comfortable shoes to wear between rounds. In the end, even if you don't get your first choice sorority, don't let that completely ruin your college experience. After all, you might end up loving the one that you do get a bid from. You'll never know unless you give it a chance.

Don't idealize relationship between sorority sisters! Remember girls will be girls. There will be some kind of drama, rivalry and jelousy. Don't expect them always be supportive and sisterly. It ain't gonna happen whether you are in Aphi, Phi Mu, Kappa or anywhere else. Look at the overall impression and positive energy during recruitment time. Don't put the most popular sorority as your first choice if you dont feel the real connection with at least several girls. If the girls act like they are doing you a favor by considering you as their potential sister-look somewhere else. It can be up to you to make the sorority of your choice a bit hotter and more popular. If popularity and ranking of the sorority is the only reason for your choice, you may end up being lonely and feeling outside of the clique, even if you get in.

No the sororities never see the grades...unless you report your GPA from freshman fall. The grades are covered for a reason!
