They are all good and all offer a great Greek experience.

Really just keep an open mind! Sometimes the people that you connect with best are in a sorority you knew nothing about previously. If you have specific questions about the sororities, ask them during recruitment! The sisters want to tell you about their experiences.

Also- the sororities all have social media pages, but don't make your judgements based purely off what they post. Remember that sororities at Hopkins have roughly over 100 people, and they're all different. Each person's experience won't be represented through one social media account.

Finally, don't put much stock into "rankings." Some of the posts are quite outdated and many are written by people who weren't in any of the groups that they're ranking. It's the same way that you have to choose a college based on how it fits you, not how US News rates it.

Totally agree, at the end of the day what matters is the people you’re hanging out with not the letters above the door

These sororities are good, and some of them are actually better than aphi and phi mu in a lot of ways. Theta and Kappa get interchanged a lot. They’re very different, but the girls in these two groups are known for being very cool, fun, and woke. These girls are usually good friends with aphi/ phi mu/ ix girls and their frat friends, but are a lot more independent (and usually more confident) than the typical pnm who has her heart set on a sorority hypes up image and frats. Theta and Kappa also have full mixer schedules, they just tend to spend more of their time with frats like aepi instead of phi psi and they elect to not spend associate with frats that have questionable reputations (good because member safety and accountability, bad because people base ranking off of this). Theta is definitely the more involved sorority on campus, but Kappa definitely is a much more diverse organization with people from all over campus life. Theta is really known for sisterhood. Kappa is known for being the “smart sorority” (highest gpa). A lot of women go into recruitment wanting these two as an alternative to the superficial sorority culture that is offputting to many at Hopkins. A lot of people also go in knowing nothing about them, but end up falling in love with the sisters. People really admire the women in these organizations and they have really good reputations.

These are both very competitive organizations and are not a “backup” for if you can’t get into alpha phi. If you want to keep Theta or Kappa as an option in recruitment, you have to be smart. Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket because you will probably get dropped right away by these two if they smell even a whiff of superficial energy or elitism.

Honestly, this is Hopkins, not some southern college. All of the sororities have very smart women and all sororities here are good here - each offering friendship, events, and support for women. PNMs really can not go wrong with any group. Ignore rankings. If you feel comfortable with a group, go with it. If you get a bid from a group you were not expecting, also go with it! Someone already mentioned above, that all chapters are rather large and each offers a wide variety of potential friends...you will most likely find your fit in any of the sororities.

If you are a cool, fun, outgoing, smart, socially involved, somewhat sororityty girl that isn’t 100% sure about being in a super girly, traditional sorority, theta or kappa might be perfect for you. They are both selective during recruitment and they have great reputations on campus, they’re just a different vibe than aphi/ mu and have a different emphasis on certain elements in greek life.
