How do sorority selections actually work. I heard they put our pics up on on a slideshow, the girls who met/ know the girl comment on what they thought of her, and then everyone votes based what ppl said/ attractiveness, somehow, which sounds super embarrassing. Do they put up GPAs and judge you based on that. I'm just trying to make sense of what happened to me srry...

they all work differently and sadly we are told to specifically not share details about our selection processes at all of the sororitys.

A lot of girls dropped this rush cycle when they ended up in pi phi or kappa and are now regretting it. If you are petty and all you care about is the reputation of the sororities then you’re missing out on so much more that they offer and maybe you deserve to miss out on these for being so petty

if you're worried about GPA/ think GPA impacted what happened in terms of your recruitment process, if you're GPA is like pretty low, then that is usually something sororitys are informed of

For some sororities, the whole group votes, and for others, only the girls who you talked to vote. As time goes on and you have friends in specific sororities, they can probably tell you more about how exactly it works and what really happened. It’s supposed to be kept on the DL so idk if anyone would say on here, but if you have a good friend who’s in a sorority you wanted, they will probably tell you about their recruitment process once they find out more info!

I don’t know about recent rush, but Phi Mu used to project girls pictures and let the “sisters” have a ball “dissecting” the PNMs. I don’t know if this is true or just rumors but that is what I have heard from some alumni. Aphi, on the other hand, limits such decisions to its board and friends of the board members, but it could be just rumors as well.

There are a lot of intangibles to consider when meeting potentisl new members, but your GPA is a very tangible quality the strats consider. All definitely know your GPA and many strats have minimum GPA requirements. They could have loved you but if your GPA is too low, it pushes you lower on their list to invite back. Get your grades up and go through recruitment again.

In alpha phi literally the eboard has the final say. It’s so annoying how little power we have and I think it’s why our group is super large because of our rep and that our eboard literally forces us not to take girls who don’t meet their standards no matter how much we loved em. But after you’re in it for a while it seems to become obvious how disjointed we are. Like half the girls are ratch af and the other half are like super judgy and doing it for their resume. I think this needs to change if we want a more cohesive group.

Thank you! You nailed it! I have a friend who was in APhi 6 years ago— they were cohesive and supportive of each other back then. They were down to earth and they were not afraid to march to their own drum. Now days the race to be the top sorority is hurting them. They are getting “socially noticeable” and good looking girls who may not have much in common or may not even like each other. Their families are very fake and forced ( quite often), and I think it is because of a poor leadership.
