considering how many girls there were at the start of recruitment and then on bid day, there were so many girls who dropped and it is so sad to see so many incredible women leave the process

i mean approx 40 is pretty typical, maybe a little on the higher side, it just feels like a lot bc we started off with a little less PNMs than usual to begin with

When one of the five sororities offers an invite back during recruitment, it means that group saw something worthwhile in her and valued that women as a potential member. The group that cuts a woman is probably saying something else. Anyone who would turn their back on the former and decide to drop because she did not get a return to a top house is looking for some kind of validation outside of her own merits...so it is all for the best these women dropped. These drops weed out the shallow and should be embraced vs lamented.

I’d say that’s an unfair generalization to make... many girls drop for reasons outside of not getting a “top” sorority because they realize it’s not the right time for them to commit or the process isn’t for them... and believe it or not some times it is better for girls to drop than just accept a bid just to have a bid without having felt a genuine connection with the sorority

Perhaps that is true, however, most of the chapters are a good-sized group and have members with diverse interests, so ultimately they are pretty similar in providing the "sorority experience" and given time, most women find friends they fit with in the strat. Most freshmen are strangers going through recruitment and if they drop because the top houses dropped them or if they did not find an instant connection from a few conversations held mostly with strangers, then can't you admit that is a fairly unreasonable recruitment expectation? I think if you ask any member of any chapter, they would tell you that most of their friends would be from bonds formed with fellow pledge members or members they had stuff in common with, not the women who they met during recruitment (although that certainly can happen). If these women really want a sorority experience, then why not stick it out and see what builds from actually being with chapters that wanted you and invited you back? They could have had all the way up to initiation to see if friendships form. To me that is a most reasonable path and one I am sure quite a few women who accepted bids decided to follow.
