yes this is true. Sororities above quota do not need to do COB. The are large enough that when formal recruitment starts that they can afford to be more selective with the girls that they take. In that sense, phi mu does not necessarily need to do COB in the fall because enough PNMs will likely try to keep phi mu on their list that it will be competitive. It is not as sure of a thing for kappa and even less for pi phi, so it makes sense for them to COB.

At Hopkins only sophomores, juniors, and seniors can COB in the fall. Freshmen can COB in the spring (as well as go through formal recruitment)

actually they just had a really big senior class graduate, and then last year's PC was small (but equally small for everyone bc like thats how rush works) so they ended up under...chill friend...no need to get nasty yourself

real talk, i'm not a phi mu but I don't get all the hate surrounding them? Maybe it's because I'm a junior so maybe most of the "mean" ones graduated? I have a few friends in phi mu and they're normal, nice girls. The few phi mus in my classes are nice to me even though I'm not in their sorority... just seems like your normal sorority with a little drama here and there (I'm in a different sorority and of course there's drama). Is there something that happened before I rushed (two years ago) that i should know about?

Also a girl in another sorority that is "less cool" than phi mu whose best friends are in phi mu. I don't think the hate is from actual Panhellenic people. Nothing wrong with a single girl that I have met. We don't want the girls that phi mu recruits in our sorority and they don't want the girls we recruit in their sorority. Not personal, just the way it is. I don't see where the hate comes from. People that maybe got cut and decided to drop altogether because they didn't trust the system? Who knows.

To those who wonder why phi mu is disliked, read some posts from 2, 3, 4 years ago, where they blatantly ranked themselves as the smartest, hottest, most successful and socially superior group,( while bashing other sororities). Their favorite theme was "phi mu is always number one", dismissing even ideas that other sororities have some great and impressive members as well. They were the biggest bullies in GL. Superlatives were their middle names. Their girls were cute but nothing stunning. The only memorable one in a last 4-5 years was Lucy F. They insinuated that they all had a higher status because they were white upper middle class preppy girls or an old money in some cases. They had some normal girls but they also had plenty of wannabes who were hoping to land a rich bf. I think the worst of them had graduated, but they poisoned many people's GL experience with their nastiness and contempt. I'm sure with the senior(2016) class gone, they have better girls now.
