Pi Beta Phi - ΠΒΦ Sorority at Johns Hopkins University - JHU 4.5 I think arguably pi phi has the most genuine girls. Yes, not all of them are best friends, but they are kind and there is truly sincere friendship among the chapter, which can’t be said about a lot of other sororitys. Most of the girls are down to earth, sweet, and friendly. They don’t care much about “social status” but they are a very fun group to hang with.

Pi Beta Phi - ΠΒΦ Sorority at Johns Hopkins University - JHU 1.0 I’m sorry, but half of these girls are annoying and weird, and the other half are nasty and mean. There are a few cute girls, but almost all of them are problematic. They also tend to be bad with GPA and they have the least frat connections if that matters to you.

Pi Beta Phi - ΠΒΦ Sorority at Johns Hopkins University - JHU 1.2 I know people will always be able to find something about each sorority to love that’s special. However, from what the people I know in Pi Phi say, it’s kind of a combination of the worst parts of each sorority. They say they don’t value looks/ image, but they really do, it’s just that they happen to be the least conventionally attractive group. This leads to members feeling insecure or undervalued if they aren’t part of the clique of 9 or 10 thin, rich, “pretty” girls. A lot of people don’t go out, but the ones that do have bad reputations for being messy. They don’t have great academic support like other orgs either.

A few counterpoints based on my experience as a member of pi phi: 1)Values-based recruitment is HUGE for pi phi... which means that if someone isn't conventionally attractive that's rly not an issue when rushing pi phi. If you have a good personality and we share values, idrc if you're pretty. I'd rather have a nice person as a sister than someone who is attractive but mean/nasty. I find myself having more sisters in the former category. 2)Some people go out. Some people just hang with sisters and that's fine. Both are possible with Pi Phi. Honestly, all the srats have some 'messy' people. We're in college what do you expect? What matters is who you have around you when things get messy and there's no one I'd trust more than my pi phi sisters. 3)Every srat has drama and not everyone is going to get along... so I don't that's not a pi phi specific issue. That being said, there are so many sisters that make an effort to be inclusive and make ppl feel valued. 4)The academic support is solid and so is the emotional support that's inherently needed when you're a student at JHU. Another note: pi phi helped fund my education (~7k in scholarships) which is itself a form of academic/financial assistance

Pi Beta Phi - ΠΒΦ Sorority at Johns Hopkins University - JHU 1.4 Any rank on here that’s nice is probably a self rank. This is the sorority you get when you don’t get asked back to any of the other four. This isn’t even just about superficial things either, all around pi phi is the weakest organization out of all the sororities at Hopkins.

Pi Beta Phi - ΠΒΦ Sorority at Johns Hopkins University - JHU 1.5 dropping pi phi was the best choice I could have made. There’s a reason so many people do it on bid day.

Pi Beta Phi - ΠΒΦ Sorority at Johns Hopkins University - JHU 3.0 Compared to the middle tier sororities, I would say pi phi looks very similar to those sororities. But pi phis pitfall is really the cliqueness within the chapter and the fact that new members don’t want pi phi (which I don’t blame them). They also seem to not branch out and socialize with other fraternities as a cohesive group, but rather have there core friends and have pi phi as a secondary group, which is different to top tier sororities. I think if they market themselves better and learn how to bond they can easily be equal to kappa and theta.

Pi Beta Phi - ΠΒΦ Sorority at Johns Hopkins University - JHU 3.2 (from a WW, PKP perspective) while pi phi may be considered bottom tier, they are by far my favorite sorority to mix with. IX might be the hottest, most exclusive, and Phi Mu the best, but pi phi is always a great time, especially at mixers. They show out the most, actually participate in the mixer (dancing, games, vibe). They are quite the mixed bag of personalities, many of them are good-looking, and the vast majority are quite intelligent. Under their new leadership, I am confident that they will continue improving and balling. The reason that they're so fun to mix with is because even though some individuals might be awkward, they are all personable. Have high hopes for pi phi in the upcoming year.
