real talk about football

by:

FIU football isn't bad it's actually a pretty decent team, being in the stadium is actually fun and they give out a lot of free stuff, and Greek life is active enough that an IM game will get a lot of Greeks out there and root for their teams. So the question is to why aren't more Greeks going to the game, and what can be done to get them out there? It's not distance to FIU because folks will literally drive 8 hours for a footbal game in tally

FIU has always had a problem with school spirit and getting attendance at games. Partly because it's still a commuter school (it's still fairly young),and partly because the team hasn't been playing well. This year FIU has been doing amazing, which is surprising, but it's also brought new tailgating restrictions for the Greeks. It's not until the team consistently does well and FIU becomes less of a commuter school that anything will change.
Plus, it's Miami and it's difficult to make it feel like a "college town". Thankfully FIU has plans in the works to help change that over the next 20 years.
Until then Greeks, students, and alumni will continue to show up to only major games-mostly if there's appropriate tailgates.
Just my two cents...

I mean, today's football game was a "Greek Game". That was a way FIU is trying to involve the Greeks

Fire the athletic director, use the location, the girls, the rankings, the night life and the uniqueness of the school to recruit better players to make the program better.
