going through recruitment again

by: Disheartened transfer Jnr

Went through formal recruitment this year, got a bid from an organization I really didn't want to be a part of, and dropped that morning. Seeing as you have to wait an entire calendar year, would it make sense to try again as a senior? Do I have any other options this fall semester? Has anyone else gone through this?

Are you a guy or girl?

Your chances are better to do that if you are a guy to my understanding

You only have to wait a year if u ACCEPTED a bid through formal recruitment. If u want to wait a year, u can though. Going through recruitment as a senior isn't a big deal. Plenty of women do it. If u don't want to wait a year some sororities may participate in informal recruitment this semester and/or in Spring

Is it too late to rush as a jr/senior in the spring?

I want to join a fraternity but wasn't interested prior

I got a bid, opened it and turned it in to Panhellenic that morning. Does that count as accepting the bid? (sorry if this seems redundant) Also, I'm a girl. My questions are for sorority recruitment.

no, if you got a bid from another organization, regardless of whether you accepted it or not, you can go through recruitment for another year. (if youre a girl)

It counts and you'd have to wait a year or accept it and see if you like it

No OP, that does not count as accepting the bid. If you had accepted the bid you'd be a new member in a sorority now
"Not218"- u can go through fraternity recruitment in spring and it will be fine

When you choose your choices on preference night you agree to a contract called Mr. ABA, which means that if you don't like your bid on bid day, you have to wait a full calendar year. If you didn't drop before you chose on pref night then you have to wait till next fall.

this person's right, by voting on prefs you agreed that if any org you listed offered you a bid you were locked in to it for a year, even if you don't accept it, and couldn't rush again until next fall.
