Just to point a small yet appropriate comment about Gphi all of a sudden being ranked 1st. Coming from Oklahoma and tons of the girls I know being involved in Greek life, most of my friends who went Gphi had theta, kappa, or pi phi as their 1st choice and did not get a bid from their first, and although they are happy at Gphi they would of preferred to be at their number one. But continue on..

On pref night, PNMs pick the house that they have that feels like home to them, or that they connect with the girls best in. There are plenty of girls who don't choose their house on rankings. I'm in what's considered to be a "top tier house" and I was torn between them and a considered "mid tier house." I chose where I am because I felt at home, along with most of the girls in my pledge class. You're making assumptions that people didn't choose gphi as first because they weren't "good" but it was probably because they didn't feel as at home there as they did at another house, and nothing is wrong with that.

Anyone that has two or three good choices for pref agonizes over which to choose in which order. It usually comes down to where you feel more at home and that is usually based on the girls that rushed you at that house. You might connect with one of the girls in a lower ranked house and that's a great reason to pick a house. Picking because greek rank says that house is a top house is a stupid reason.

That is so true. That was the case for me this year. I had three houses on Pref night as did some of my friends from my group. Some did agonize over it because of the perception of having a "top house" on their list and two "middle tier" or less perceived houses and they agonized should they go the perceived top house or the perceived middle house where they felt most at home.
I had one perceived top house (I had been cut from my first choice perceived top house) and two perceived middle tier houses on pref. I did not agonize over the perceived middle tier house I put first. I knew where I felt at home. That said, I really, really liked the girls at the perceived top tier house and the other perceived middle tier house and for a while, felt awkward when I would see/run into some of the girls who had rushed me because I did like them so much and I didn't chose them.
I love where I am in my "middle tier house".

No way is GPHI anywhere close to being a top house. They are so rude, even to their own sister. They never win anything and they had to do COB last year because they had so many drop them.

Sorry you feel that way, but most people don't. Among the pnms this year gphi had the highest return rates and was the house the girls as a whole most wanted. They have a very low drop rate - I heard they didn't lose anyone last year to dropping but some may have graduated early or transferred. And as for winning, you're right. They don't win a lot but they always participate and have a great time. Winning doesn't seem to be their motivation for participation and the girls in the house like it like that. They just have fun with campus events and still have time for other things. My roomie last year was a gphi and I thought they had a great attitude. Too bad you disagree.

It's kind of funny that you would criticize G Phi for being rude. Of all the houses I've been around they're the sweetest, most open and affirming girls I've met. They cut me before pref and I was very sad but I don't hate them for that. I genuinely think they liked me but just liked some other girls better maybe. Which ISN'T rude by the way, it's just the way it goes.
