Greek discovery day and first day to register for rush (and pay a $100 fee) was late March 2015. Go to Greek discovery day. Make you hotel reservation early. Hampton Inn is the best. Can't afford it, go with Days Inn or Motel 6. Also, don't forget to register with your city/town panhellenic council. Great resource for recommendation letters if you do not know someone in that sorority.

I totally agree about visiting the campus Go Greek day. The web page should be updated by the first of the year. Register to go as soon as it comes online and make your hotel reservation for the night before if you are out of state or far away because it begins early in the morning.
Then register with your local Panhellenic council. When I rushed, I didn't have rec letters from 2 sororities and having the area rep help me with these was great. If they reps don't contact you, you can contact them.
Grades are a big issue. I finished with a 3.6 out of 4.0 and was a legacy. While I ended up in my legacy house, there was a house I really, really liked and I thought they liked me and we had a connection and I always wondered did they cut me the first day because my GPA wasn't high enough or because I was a legacy somewhere else.

Good advice^^^ If you do anything right now, make sure your "CORE" GPA is above at least a 3.2! A lot of houses won't look at you after the first day if it is not. Being a legacy will probably get you a second look at that sorority, but not a guarantee at any house! I know one sorority that will cut you if you are a legacy (and don't have a glowing gpa) of another house. ALL the houses will want you if you have an outstanding GPA, and are really involved in extracurricular activities (want to be a doctor without border? Work at a shelter? Let them know. They love that stuff!) Remember, sororities love conformity. Save your hipster, goth, freaky side until the houses get to know you better. They may not want to judge the fact that you have a facial tattoo or rainbow hair, but they will.
