I am so excited that a new chapter is coming to our campus! We have one of the best Greek communities in the nation (even if this site doesn't show it), and now we have the opportunity to share that with even more ladies. It's so exciting that we have so many girls that want to be Greek that we need another chapter. Go O-State Greeks!

Top houses are changing....

The top houses are strong Nationally and at OSU. All of them have strict Nationals that make sure they stay in the top 5. Therefore they are very secure in being top ranked houses and get high quality girls with high gpa's.

Actually every house changes with every new class, not just the top houses. Recruitment is chancy and the classes that houses get reveal themselves as the year progresses. Top houses just get the girls every house wants -- no one knows for sure how they'll turn out though. Our top houses do pretty well with their choices and that isn't likely to change.

Yes, things do change with every pledge class that's why the top houses aren't always the top anymore. Time has a way of changing things although people aren't willing to admit it. It doesn't matter though, because I believe all the houses at OSU are great!

Top houses don't ever change because they get the top girls every year. They are the most structured and have the strictest Nationals. However, top houses aren't for everyone! I am not in a top house (chio, piphi, kappa, gphi & theta) but I am very happy. All the girls going through recruitment need to know if you don't have a high gpa you will not get in a top house. Keep an open mind and have fun. Don't get all wrapped up in all the rumors and just know all the houses are great and have a lot to offer.

It frustrates me to see so many of you say that all top houses take girls with high gpas. My cousin went through rush last year and she had a veryyy high gpa and was involved in clubs and sports during high school. She had absolutely no behavior problems, was very well liked, and is very pretty (let's face it looks play a small factor). And she didn't get a top house. I don't understand why.

She might not have had as high of gpa as you think. Also, they look at the gpa unweighted. So if a girls school puts on their transcript a weighted gpa just know they will change it to an unweighted gpa. Also, her house vists could have gone bad. That's why it is important to go and have fun and don't be stressed. Just know all the houses are great not just the top houses. They ALL have great girls that are pretty, fun, involved and smart. I promise!

Maybe she found her home in a house that was not one that is considered "top." That's fine and is in fact what recruitment is about - a mutual selection process. No one said that the "top" houses take everyone with a 4.0 or that everyone with a 4.0 wants a top house. That's not the way it works.

I am not in a top 5 house but I am going to be honest. All the girls would love to be in a top house. If your cousin preffed two of the top houses that didn't pref her (but maybe the other 3 did pref her) then it could be she was then given other houses that wanted her. The reason why is there are so many girls that pref the top houses they put the girls with houses that also put them as one of their top girls they want. Houses have their top list, second choice list and then the list of girls they let go. However, believe me it's not the end of the world. I am very happy and I'm sure your cousin is too.
