rush advice for freshmen

by: Real greek

Rush has started in full force and many of you guys are probably getting calls from many fraternity rush chairmen. These rush chairs are telling you 99 different reasons why you should rush their organization, or why it’s better then the others (without actually saying that of course). The natural thing to do is to get online and find out as much information about what you are getting yourself into, weather or not the fraternity is “relevant” weather or not it’s social suicide, or maybe if it’s just worth your time. Believe me, exactly two years ago I was sitting in your same shoes. Searching the Internet on any info about the guys that have the “tightest brotherhood on campus” I put that in quotations because you’ll probably hear it about 10-14 times this summer, depending on the amount of houses you see. So you happen among this forum by chance hoping to gain a little bit of Information about various houses as a whole. First you should know that reading this bored should come with a warning. So this is my warning to you. Take it as a grain of salt, or live by it, honestly I really don’t care it’s for the benefit of you. Understand that reading this site is like reading the sharpie writings on the library fourth floor bathroom stalls.(once you’re on campus I strongly recommend reading that, its pretty funny anyway;)) Yea, it’s amusing to read, but it’s not something you should pledge your life to. If you believe this site, there are only like 2 acceptable fraternities.cont

Everyone else is either weird, social outcasts, hated, you name it. Second, When I read this two years ago I thought (a house that I actually ended up pledging) was not involved and was not my type of people, so I almost denied a rush event with them choosing a “top” house that I didn’t fit in with, but already secured a bid from over them. It wasn’t relevant to me that I had made the right choice going with the “lower tier” house until later in the semester. Be an independent thinker, and go with your gut. The “cool kid table” does not exist in college. No girl is going to want you because you “Frat harder then those other Geeds in the Greek community.” Make an intelligent choice based off what you know and stick with it. Stop taking advice from people who don’t post their real name to their opinions. I always said if you had to link this to Facebook in order to post, it would turn the site around 180 degrees. And lastly, welcome to the Oklahoma state family. At the end of the day, as much as everyone “hates each other” we can still come together and mourn the loss of one of our own in tragedy, or celebrate a pokes victory on the turf (and at the bars after!!!). This is the Oklahoma state you current Greeks, (as well as myself) should be portraying to these freshmen. Not the hatred of all the house tiers that aren’t even a true representation. It’s based off opinion. Thank you for hearing me out those of you that did, happy rushing and cant wait to see you around this fall

Ok so what ever one you're clearly doesn't empathize intelligence because you used the incorrect forms of words multiple time... example "weather" should be whether, "bored" should be board ect. Geez this is college not second grade!

You speak the truth man. Pick a house YOU fit in with and like if you truly want to make the best of your college experience
